Family Night at the Christensen's

Last night for Family Night, we promised Tyler that we would carve his pumpkin! So after dinner was all cleaned up, I went to gather up our great carving supplies from last year! After searching everywhere, I realized that I had hid that dangerous battery powered knife from the kids last year-- and I'd hid it well. I couldn't find my own hiding spot! Typical me. Oops....
With Steve's little hand injury, he needed an efficient knife to aid his weak hand. So he and Tyler decided to make a trip down to Walmart to find another Pumpkin Carving Kit. Well, that trip to the store ended up unlucky! No more seasonal pumpkin kits left! And soon after, three additional stores proved that last minute shoppers miss out.
Last minute luck didn't stop my boys, they just came home with an electric/battery powered, knife/tool set! When they came into the house, little Ty yelled, "Hey Mom, we finally found it! We got a big tool set to carve my pumpkin!" Anyone who knows my husband would laugh, because this is typical Steve! Whenever he does something, he does it big!
That heavy duty power-knife did make pumpkin carving a whole lot easier! Unfortunately with bedtime quickly approaching by the time they came home, we only had time to carve Tyler's last night. Tonight, they plan to finish up the others! I think Steve had us all laughing through the entire evening!

This post totally cracked me up! I love that they bought a powered knife to carve the pumpkins with! That is hilarious. Mike and I had the same blight last year when we tried to find carving knives the night before Halloween. You're family is adorable and you're just gorgeous!
Have a fantastic Halloween!

Electric Pumpkin Carver eh? Almost makes you feel sorry for those pumpkins. We did a few the other day, and had fun. Hope the others work out! Maybe everyone needs to blog a picture of their pumpkins. Happy Halloween tomorrow!

Hilarious! We need to get one of those cool knives...we couldn't find our tools this year either. Derik just used a steak knife, but the battery powered carving knife is way better!

Steve is such a funny guy! A motorized knife for cutting pumpkins?? That's so funny and techie. He just loves his boys and his hot little wife. Looks like you had a great Halloween! Let's talk soon for sure.

Katie,

It doesn't surprise me that Bevo decided to use his injury as an object lesson to the boys on how helpful (and fun) power tools can be. Watch out for your dining room table after he teaches them how fun an orbital sander can be . . .

Great blog - really enjoy keeping up to date on you guys!
